⚡ BAXTER’S BAITS HELLVIBE™

Crawl It. Swim It. Trigger It.™

A vibrating jig doesn't always have to look like a shad.

The Baxter’s Baits HellVibe™ combines the flash, vibration and hunting action of a bladed jig with the long, segmented profile and appendage movement of a hellgrammite-style trailer.

The result is a presentation that doesn't fit neatly into one forage category.

Hellgrammite. Crawfish. Goby. Aquatic insect. Baitfish.

The bass can decide what it is.

Our job is to make them eat it.

Comes with Bladed Jig head rigged and and extra trailer

🎯 WHAT

The HellVibe™ is Baxter’s Baits' vibrating jig paired specifically with a hellgrammite-style soft-plastic trailer.

Instead of creating the conventional compact baitfish profile of a bladed jig and paddle-tail trailer, the HellVibe produces a longer, more irregular silhouette.

The blade provides:

VIBRATION • FLASH • HUNTING ACTION

While the hellgrammite trailer adds:

SEGMENTATION • APPENDAGE MOVEMENT • LENGTH • NATURAL FALL

Together they create a presentation bass don't see every day.

Familiar vibration. Unfamiliar profile.™

📅 WHEN

🌱 PRE-SPAWN

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of my favorite potential HellVibe windows.

As water begins warming and bass move toward staging areas, fish it around:

Rock • emerging grass • secondary points • creek channels • warming flats

Slow it down.

Let the blade work without racing the bait back to the boat.

🌸 SPAWN

⭐⭐⭐½

Not its strongest period.

Use it primarily as a search bait around spawning flats and nearby cover, then follow up with a slower Trigger Series plastic once you locate fish.

☀️ POST-SPAWN / SUMMER

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent around submerged vegetation.

This is where the HellVibe can become especially useful in NJ and PA.

Run it:

OVER GRASS → TICK GRASS → RIP FREE → PAUSE

That sudden acceleration followed by the hellgrammite trailer falling can Trigger the strike.

🍂 FALL

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

Potentially the BEST HellVibe season.

Bass are feeding aggressively, but don't assume every fish is eating shad.

Run the HellVibe around:

Grass • Rock • creek mouths • flats • points • baitfish corridors

Burn it when they're chasing.

Slow-roll it when they're not.

❄️ COLD WATER

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Don't put it away.

Slow-roll the HellVibe along bottom and allow occasional pauses.

The hellgrammite trailer gives the presentation an almost crawling appearance when worked slowly.

📍 WHERE

🌿 GRASS

This should be HellVibe territory.

Fish:

Outside weed edges • submerged grass • grass points • holes • isolated clumps

Keep the bait just above the vegetation.

When it touches:

RIP → SURGE → PAUSE

That change in speed is the Trigger.

🪨 ROCK

Another major strength.

Fish:

Riprap • rocky points • gravel transitions • chunk rock • dam faces

Slow the retrieve enough to occasionally contact bottom.

But don't grind the blade directly into every rock.

Let it tick, deflect and continue.

🪵 WOOD

Use around:

Laydowns • stumps • submerged timber • dock posts

Bring it alongside the cover rather than burying it deep inside.

🌊 FLATS

Excellent search bait when bass are scattered.

Make long casts and vary retrieve speed until the fish tell you what they want.

🛠️ HOW

🥇 TICK & RIP

This would be my signature HellVibe retrieve.

Vibrate → Tick Grass → RIP → Pause → Resume

The blade gets their attention.

The sudden burst triggers pursuit.

The hellgrammite's appendages move as the bait falls.

That pause may be where the bite happens.

🥈 SLOW CRAWL

This is where HellVibe separates itself from a conventional vibrating jig.

Retrieve it just fast enough to keep the blade working.

Let it occasionally touch:

Rock • gravel • sparse vegetation

The hellgrammite trailer makes the presentation look considerably more creature-like.

Especially useful during:

Cold fronts • high pressure • cold water • heavily pressured conditions

🥉 STEADY SWIM

Sometimes don't overthink it.

Cast.

Engage the reel.

Bring the bait back steadily.

Use this when bass are actively roaming and feeding.

⚡ BURN & KILL

When bass are chasing:

BURN → BURN → BURN → KILL IT

The bait suddenly loses forward momentum and the hellgrammite trailer falls underneath it.

That radical change from vibration to vulnerability can produce the strike.

🎯 BOTTOM CONTACT

Try this around deeper rock and clean bottom.

Let the HellVibe sink.

Slowly retrieve it close to bottom with occasional short rod movements.

Think less:

Chatterbait

and more:

POWER-FINESSE BOTTOM BAIT.

That's an important distinction.

🧠 WHY

The HellVibe works because it combines two very different strike mechanisms.

1. VIBRATION

Bass can detect the blade before they clearly see the bait.

2. FLASH

Blade movement provides a visual target.

3. PROFILE

The hellgrammite creates a long, segmented silhouette different from the paddle tails bass commonly see behind vibrating jigs.

4. SECONDARY ACTION

The trailer's appendages continue moving behind the blade.

5. DECEPTION

It doesn't have to perfectly imitate one food source.

A smallmouth around rock might interpret it as bottom forage.

A largemouth around vegetation may see an aquatic creature.

A feeding fish may simply see something alive trying to escape.

6. CHANGE OF SPEED

This may be the most important element.

VIBRATION → RIP → FALL

or

CRAWL → DEFLECT → SURGE

creates sudden changes in movement.

Sometimes that change is the Trigger.

💧 WATER CLARITY SYSTEM

🔵 GIN CLEAR — 8+ FT

⭐⭐⭐⭐½

Think:

Round Valley • Merrill Creek • clear PA reservoirs

Go natural and restrained.

Best combinations:

Green Pumpkin Purple
Natural Brown/Olive
Smoke Purple
Scuppernong
Natural Goby

Use a natural hellgrammite trailer with minimal contrast.

Long casts are important.

Best retrieve:

Slow swim • bottom crawl • subtle grass ticking

🟢 CLEAR — 4–8 FT

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

This may be the HellVibe sweet spot.

Best colors:

Green Pumpkin
Green Pumpkin Purple
Watermelon
Brown/Olive
Natural Craw

You have enough visibility for the bass to see the hellgrammite profile while the blade can attract fish from farther away.

Best retrieve:

Tick & Rip

🟡 MODERATE STAIN — 2–4 FT

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

Now vibration becomes increasingly important.

Add slightly more contrast:

Green Pumpkin Red
Junebug
Brown/Orange
Black/Blue accents
Chartreuse trigger accents

This could be outstanding on many NJ and eastern PA lakes.

Best retrieve:

Steady swim • grass rip • deflection

🟠 STAINED — 1–2 FT

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Go stronger:

Black/Blue
Junebug
Black/Red
Dark Brown/Orange
Chartreuse-accented natural colors

The blade helps the bass locate the bait while the hellgrammite provides a substantial silhouette when they close the distance.

Best retrieve:

Slow and deliberate

Give the fish time to track it.

🔴 MUDDY — UNDER 1 FT

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Now I'd prioritize vibration and silhouette over realism.

Use:

Black/Blue
Black/Red
Junebug
Black/Chartreuse

Fish it close to:

Wood • rock • grass • docks • shoreline cover

Don't expect bass to travel enormous distances to find it.

Put the HellVibe in their neighborhood.

🗺️ NJ & PA WATER TYPES

ROUND VALLEY RESERVOIR

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Natural HellVibe

Think:

GP Purple • Scuppernong • Natural Goby

Rock/grass transitions and deeper vegetation.

Long casts and restrained retrieves.

MERRILL CREEK RESERVOIR

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very interesting HellVibe lake.

Concentrate on:

8–15 ft grass • outside grass edges • rock/grass transitions

Start natural.

CARNEGIE LAKE

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

This is where I would absolutely test it.

Fish:

Pads • vegetation • wood • bridge structure • shallow flats

Use the HellVibe as a shallow-water search bait and then follow missed fish with a Triggered Beaver™, Senko or Trigger Grub™.

ASSUNPINK LAKE

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent candidate for:

Grass • stained water • shallow cover

I'd lean toward:

Junebug • GP Red • Black/Blue • darker craw patterns

SPRUCE RUN

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rock, vegetation and roaming fish give the HellVibe several different roles.

I'd especially like it during the pre-spawn and fall.

VAN SCIVER / PENN WARNER WATERS

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+

This may become one of the better PA applications.

Clear water means I'd start natural:

GP Purple • Scuppernong • Green Pumpkin • Brown/Olive

Use long casts and work grass edges, rock and transitions.

🏆 THE HELLVIBE SYSTEM

CLEAR WATER

Natural color + subtle hellgrammite

STAINED WATER

More contrast + stronger vibration

GRASS

Tick → Rip → Pause

ROCK

Slow crawl → Deflect → Continue

ACTIVE FISH

Burn → Kill

PRESSURED FISH

Slow roll → Pause

FOLLOWER
